EVALUATION AND SELECTION
The scholarships are awarded by the Commission, which manages the fund for cooperation and knowledge. The Commission's decision is final and will only be sent to shortlisted candidates.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
The Scholarships America will be awarded according to the following modalities:

1. Successful candidates will have to confirm their acceptance of the scholarship and of its conditions within the within the time limit set in the letter communicating the awarding of the scholarship. If a candidate fails to confirm his/her acceptance, the scholarship will be awarded to the following candidate in rank;

2. Once received the declaration of acceptance of the scholarship, the University of Pavia will:
• send a prepaid travel ticket to Italy and provide for the travel expenses back to the developing country. Visa requirements will be care of the candidate, and will be reimbursed upon presentation of appropriate receipts;
• provide the candidate with the scholarship according to the final decision of the
Commission: monthly instalments of 1.000 Euros each (the number of instalments assigned to each successful candidate will be decided by the Commission);
• arrange an accommodation in one of the University Residences of Pavia (lodging expenses will have to be paid by the candidate; if the candidate does not accept the proposed lodging, s/he will have to find another one by him/herself);
• provide a card for meals at University canteens (the candidate will get the student discount for the meals, which will be at his/her expense);
• guarantee all the facilities required during the period of residence - libraries, computer facilities, etc., including all the services of the Faculty which the student is associated with;
• help the candidate to settle through the services offered for free by the Welcome Point of the University of Pavia, which will provide also the information about applying for a student residence permit.
3. Insurances will be direct care of the selected candidates. In particular, health insurance might be bought by the candidate before leaving the country of origin, being this usually mandatory while applying for the Visa.

In particular, populations showing signature of local adaptation in the face of gene flow will be used to highlight genes and genetic architectures underlying adaptive responses to solar radiation.

APPLICATION EVALUATIONS

The evaluation of applications and the placement of applicants will be carried out by the Istanbul Şehir University Admissions Committee. The Admissions Committee may accept some applicants who have fulfilled the requirements after preliminary consideration. Applicants without any test results, if considered appropriate, will be called to take the International Students Entrance Exam.

ANNOUNCEMENT OF RESULTS

The names of accepted candidates will be announced on the university’s web site and applicants will be notified online. Students who confirm the notification will be sent a letter of acceptance via mail and online. Applicants must then present their acceptance letter, together with all other required forms, to the Turkish Embassy or Consulate in their countries to receive a student visa.

Program Description

The three-year PhD programme at CBS allows you to conduct research under the supervision of CBS professors, supported by research training courses. The programme is highly international, and you are expected to participate in international research conferences and to spend time abroad as a visiting PhD student. A postdoctoral position will be available starting August 2010 to study the neurophysiological basis of auditory behaviors using the nonhuman primate model. The current focus of the laboratory is to understand how we detect signals (tones, complex stimuli) in noisy environments. The primary technique that will be used will be single unit electrophysiology (single and multi electrode) in awake animals performing behavioral tasks. In addition to electrophysiology, the successful applicant will perform quantitative analyses of behavior and neuronal activity, as well as some computational modeling, under the PI¹s supervision. Candidates with backgrounds in hearing research, vision research, oculomotor neuroscience, other areas of systems neuroscience, or engineering are welcome to apply.

Experience with electrophysiological recording, working with nonhuman primates, and skills in quantitative analysis and programming are a plus.

The Rockefeller Foundation Residencies for Scholars and Creative Artists

The Rockefeller Foundation's Bellagio Center provides a platform for developing new ideas and solutions to some of the most difficult global problems.

Residencies allow for disciplined work and collaborative action on these issues, uninterrupted by the usual professional and personal demands. Residency participants include scholars, scientists, artists, journalists, writers, non-governmental organization practitioners and policymakers from around the world. Rockefeller Foundation welcomes projects in all fields, but they are particularly interested in innovative projects that address one or more of their issue areas: basic survival safeguards, global health, climate and environment, urbanization, social and economic security.

Collegial interaction with the other residents is an integral dimension of the Bellagio experience. Meals and informal presentations of residents' work afford an opportunity for dynamic discussion and engagement with each other. During special dinners, residents may be able to interact with participants in international conferences hosted in various buildings on the Center's property.

The Center also offers collaborative residencies for two to four persons working on the same project. Creative artists in all fields and scholars in all disciplines from any country are welcome to apply. A residency is typically four weeks in length.

Length of Stay

Residencies are typically four weeks in length, but applicants may request a shorter period by submitting a statement that describes why an alternate length of time is requested.

Accommodations and Travel Assistance

Residents are housed in two main buildings and each resident is given a private room with bath and a study/studio, either adjoining the bedroom or on the grounds. High-speed Internet access is available free of charge in all bedrooms and most studies. There is a small library that includes basic reference books and online research tools; the works of many former residents and those resulting from Bellagio meetings are also available. The visual artist studio is quite small, and not suited for large works or installations. There is no kiln or darkroom at the Center. Accommodations are not available for children or other family members, except spouses/life partners, nor for friends or pets.

Room and board are provided to all residents and their spouses/partners, but they are responsible for their airfare and local transportation to and from Bellagio. However, the Foundation does have a limited travel assistance program, based on income level of invited residents.

Several resident suites are available for those with restricted mobility, and several of the buildings now include an elevator. Nonetheless, prospective applicants should be aware that the hillside setting of the facility and the surrounding area restricts the mobility of persons who have difficulty walking or climbing stairs.

The Center is not equipped to provide medical services or assisted care. The nearest major hospital is in Lecco, a 40-minute drive away.

Eligible Candidates

The Foundation seeks applications from outstanding creative artists at all career stages with a record of significant achievement in their field. Video/filmmakers, novelists, playwrights, poets, visual artists, and artists in performance art and multimedia from any country are welcome to apply. Preference is given to applicants from developing countries. Partnership Grants-in-exchange for African American Historic Places

Partnership in the Exchange supports cooperation between the African-American historic sites and Higher students. In the spring of 2010, and twelve of the U.S. stock 5,000 ($ 1:1 mapping required), projects that contribute to current and new audiences to historic sites supporting or challenging the interpretation of the arguments underpinning its historical sites.

Eligible projects include improving public access to resources, African-American historical and cultural sites, improving education and training at colleges and universities around the historic sites, promoting research and education, a theme much African history in the context of American culture for the common public and opportunities for lifelong learning support through a joint program, strengthening the mind-programming of individual institutions, or an important African American historical sites use.

Scholarships 2010 - 2011:

Indian Statistical Institute invites applications for scholarships for the following programs to qualified candidates as indicated for each program.

Scholarships or grants as mentioned against each programs deserving candidates.

1. B. Stat. (With Hons.) (Year 3):

A successful completion of 10 +2 years of secondary school or equivalent in mathematics and English. Stock Rs.800 / - per month. (Offered in Kolkata).

2. B. Math. (With Hons.) (Year 3):

The success of the 10 +2 years of secondary school or equivalent in mathematics and English. Stock Rs.800 / - a month. (Available in Sao Paulo).

Candidates for these two programs that have successfully cleared the Indian National Mathematics Olympiad examination held at the following address:

The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics
Department of Atomic Energy,
Government of India.

It did not appear for the written test, such candidate shall be made directly to an interview. However, these candidates will apply the prescribed application form.

3. M. Stat. (Year 2):

3 - Year Bachelor Degree with Statistics as full subject or a B. Stat. / B. math degree from the Indian Statistical Institute or a diploma in statistics / Senior Diploma in Statistics from Indian Statistical Institute. Stock Rs.1200 / - per month available (Calcutta).

4. M. Math. (Year 2):

3 - Bachelor's Degree or years B.E. / B. Tech. Degree in mathematics and an exceptionally strong background in analysis and algebra, or B. Stat. / B. Math. Completion of the Indian Statistical Institute. Stock Rs.1200 / - per month. (Offered in Kolkata).

5. Master of Science (MS) in Quantitative Economics (Year 2):

3 - Year Bachelor Degree in Economics / Mathematics / Statistics / Physics or a B. Stat, the degree of the Indian Statistical Institute. Engineering graduates are also eligible.

Applicants must have a working knowledge of economics and mathematics at the BA / pass-cycle. Stock Rs.1200 / - per month. (Offered in Kolkata and Delhi).

6. Master of Science (MS) in Library and Information Science (Year 2):

3 - Year Bachelor Degree in any discipline. Candidates must have at least scored, 60% of degree. Stock Rs.1200 / - per month. (Available in Sao Paulo).

7. M. Tech. Computer Science (2nd year):

1. Master of Science in Mathematics / Statistics / Physics / Electronic Science / Computer / Computer Applications / Computer. (or)
2. Bachelor of Engineering / Technology or any other qualification considered equivalent when (as AM1E (or GRAD) - IETE and "B" DOEACC "level). Stock Rs.5000 / - every month. (Offered in Kolkata).

A candidate will be accompanied by a valid GATE score above a limit (determined by the selection committee) in its own theme would be asked directly. However, these candidates are required to apply the prescribed application form.

8. M. Tech. Quality, reliability and operations research (2 years):

1. MS in Statistics and MSc in Mathematics with Probability and Statistics as major subjects or Bachelor of Engineering / Technology or equivalent or PG diploma or SQC and Indian Statistical Institute.
2. Knowledge of mathematical literacy and knowledge of physics and chemistry in secondary education. Stock Rs.5000 / - per month (available in Kolkata).

A candidate who has been asked to suspend any of the above programs are not entitled to be readmitted to the program.

9. Junior Research Fellowship:

1. Stats
1. A good school performance, with M. Stat., MA / MSc or equivalent degree in statistics. (or)
2. Outstanding mathematical maturity with B Stat. / B. Math. BA / diploma or equivalent degree with Statistics as the central motif.

2. Mathematics:
1. A good school performance, with M. Stat .. M. Math. MA / MSc or equivalent degree in mathematics. (or)
2. Outstanding mathematical maturity with B Stat / B Math. BA / Graduate level or equivalent with Mathematics as the main theme.

3. Quantitative Economics:
1. A good school performance, with MS (QE), M. Stat., MA / MSc or equivalent degree in Statistics / Mathematics / Economics / Econometrics. (or)
2. Outstanding mathematical maturity with BA / BA in economics as the main theme. A candidate who has obtained a Masters in any field of mathematics and statistics at the BA / BA (Pass) level is unacceptable.

4. Computer: A good performance in schools with CP / M. Tech. or equivalent degree in Electronics / Telecommunication / Radio Physics / Computer / Electrical Engineering / Microwave Communications / Information Technology / Bioinformatics / Biotechnology with mathematics as compulsory subject at undergraduate level or a good academic record with MA / MCA / MA or equivalent degree in Physics / Mathematics / Applied Mathematics / Statistics / Electronic Sciences / Computer / Atmospheric Sciences / Computer / / bioinformatics and biotechnology for mathematics as a compulsory subject in a post-graduation. Excellent candidates such as E. DI / B Tech. or equivalent degree in the above areas are also encouraged.

5. Quality, reliability and operations research: A good academic results, with M. Tech. / ME / MS / M. Phil or equivalent degree in quality / reliability / operational research or a good academic record with M. Stat. / M.Sc. / MA or equivalent degree in Mathematics / Statistics / Physics Mathematics as compulsory subject in the level of post-graduation. Excellent candidates such as E. DI / B Tech. or equivalent degree in the above areas are also encouraged.

6. Biological Anthropology: A good performance in school) with a degree in Anthropology and Honors / subject, and an MA in anthropology text (emphasis on physical / biological anthropology.

7. Physics and Applied Mathematics: A good performance in schools with a Masters in Physics / Mathematics / Statistics.

8. Agriculture and Ecology: A good performance in schools with a master's degree in Botany (with specialization in Plant Physiology / Biochemistry) / Environmental Sciences / Applied Mathematics / Statistics.

9. Sociology: A successful school with an MA / MSc or equivalent degree in Development Studies / Sociology / Economics / Agricultural Economics or another subject in the social sciences.

10. Geology: A good school performance, with a Masters in Geology / Applied Geology / Geophysics or equivalent.

11. Psychology: A good academic results, with MA / MSc in Psychology / Applied Psychology.

12. Library and Information Science: An academic career always with a first or upper second class in MS (LIS) used by the Indian Statistical Institute or college, documentation and information science from the Indian Statistical Institute or AIR NISC / INS DOC or its equivalent degree (eg Master of Library and Information Science at each university) with at least 55% of label programs.

Bag 9 (A) 9 (L):

1. Candidates with AIM / M. Tech. or equivalently: Rs.14000 / - per month.
2. Others: Rs.12000 / - per month. Is a special Rs.15000 / - per month for outstanding candidates in one of following subjects: (i) Statistics, (ii) Mathematics, (iii) computer science, (iv) Quantitative Economics (v) quality, reliability and operational research.

Candidate selection is made on an academic career in the written tests and interviews by the Institute. This test is administered SC / ST / OBC / mobility of candidates for all programs 1-8 above (ie without a program of Junior Research Fellowship).
